December 2008

In Vista, California we sponsored an after-school visual arts program for a group of special needs 4th and 5th grade children. Their creative works of weaving, pastel and watercolors were exhibited along side children’s drawings we received from our adopted school in Cambodia – a good example of the kind of links we foster with our Children’s Global Arts & Culture Connection. Family, friends and neighbors who attended the exhibit purchased several pieces of the Cambodian and local children’s art, which raised funds for dance instruction in Cambodia.

November 2008

Two 5th grade classes in Carlsbad, California mounted a very successful production of the folk history play Golliwhoppers, (by Flora Atkin). The play raised funds for one of our adopted schools in Cambodia, enabling the children there to receive urgently needed school supplies as well as new desks and chairs. Photos show the local students in a rehearsal session, and a group of children and school staff in Cambodia proudly displaying their newly acquired desks and chairs.
